Drawings on Black

.

These drawings express the simple beauty of colored pencil on a black background, while also encompassing  themes in much of my other work – the edginess of things stacked up as well as my love of line as an element in all my work, two-dimensional and three-dimensional.

The calligraphics in several drawings are beth, beyt, and bet, Phonecian, Hebrew, and Arabic, all having the original attendant meaning of “house” as well as the phonetic sound “b”.   The concepts of House, Room,  Shelter, and Window are often present in some form in my work.
